Elk

Until approximately 5 years ago I had never actually seen an elk up close. There are deer a plenty on the west coast and up close an personal visits are many, however Elk are another story in this area. The first time I saw some I said to my partner, "wow, those are some big deer", then seeing the white back ends as they departed I realized they were Elk. That was along the Taylor River Flats on the way to Ucluelet, BC from Port Alberni, BC. Since then I have been most fortunate to view several Elk up close. These sightings are what truly help me to capture the realism in my work.
