Diamond Eye

This fungus or better known artist conk was collected from a hemlock tree on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

There's something special about cougar cubs and diamonds (although faux). The black marking used as the eye is the base for the beginnng of the design. Each fungus has a story to tell. This particular one dried a brown with white speckles. Although harder to incorporate a design into such a dark background it lends itself well to the character of Diamon Eye.

- the pieces are intended for indoor display as weather will deteriorate
- the base and bark has been coated with a non toxic wood glue to seal it
- the canvas is coated with a gel stain to help prevent fading
- Cleaning: use a soft dry cloth, teashirt fabric works great on the canvas portion
Note: it is not a real diamond.
Gratitude - Kelly
