Spyhoping

The Killer Whale, commonly referred to as the Orca Whale or Orca and less commonly known as the Blackfish, is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family.
The whale often pops it's head above the surface to inspect the surrounding area above water. The whale holds it's head above the surface while kicking it's tail flukes and fins to hold itself upright. The whale will often take a look around then easily slide back into the water and pop up again in another location to take another look either close up or maybe further away depending on what it took in during it's first look.
Spy hopping is common in Killer Whales, Humpbacks and Dolphins.
