This piece was custom made for a birthday gift. It is created on a piece of west coast cedar collar. The knot in the wood lends itself to the form of a sun or a moon atop of the bear just hangin' in the alder tree.
Living on the west coast of Vancouver Island bears frequently follow the creek line of our property. The dogs often spook the bears with their barking, the bears scramble into the trees and sometimes when not in a hurry they just get comfy and hang out until the dogs are removed so they can climb down at their leisure.
